This policy explains what data Just Talk collects, what it doesn't, and what happens to it. Just Talk is a macOS dictation app made by Enfoca. We aim for the smallest possible footprint of personal data — local-first when we can, transient when we can't.
1. Information we collect
What you provide
Auto-collected
What we don't collect
- block No audio is stored. Your voice is sent to our transcription provider, transcribed, and discarded. Neither we nor the provider keeps the recording.
- block No transcript history is sent to us. Your dictations live in a local SQLite database on your Mac. We never see them.
- block No telemetry, analytics, or pixels in the desktop app. The app does not phone home with usage events, click tracking, or device fingerprints.
- block No advertising cookies on the website. No Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, no third-party trackers.
2. How we use what we collect
- check_circle To deliver transcriptions and AI editing when you press your hotkey
- check_circle To enforce per-day rate limits and detect abuse of the trial
- check_circle To process your payment and manage your subscription
- check_circle To respond to support requests you send us
- check_circle To keep service infrastructure healthy and secure
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it to train models.
3. Third-party services
To deliver the product, a small number of vendors process specific data on our behalf:
| Provider | Purpose | Data shared |
|---|---|---|
| Groq | Speech-to-text + LLM editing | Audio bytes + dictated text (transient — not stored by Groq) |
| Stripe | Payment processing | Email, card details (handled by Stripe), subscription state |
| Fly.io | Backend hosting | Standard request logs (IP, path) |
| Cloudflare | DNS / TLS in front of enfo.ca | IP for routing |
Each vendor has its own privacy policy. We pick vendors that do not retain user content for training or marketing.
4. Cookies and tracking
The Just Talk website uses only essential session cookies needed by Stripe for the checkout flow. There are no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, no fingerprinting. The desktop app uses no cookies at all.
5. Data retention
6. Security
- lock All API traffic is HTTPS / TLS 1.2+
- lock API keys are stored hashed in our database and in your macOS Keychain on your end
- lock Stripe handles all card data — we are not in PCI scope
- lock Backend runs on Fly.io with single-tenant volume isolation
7. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- check_circle See what data we hold on you
- check_circle Correct anything that's wrong
- check_circle Delete your account and associated data
- check_circle Receive a copy of your account record in a portable format
Send the request to hola@enfo.ca. We respond within 30 days.
8. Children's privacy
Just Talk is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we'll delete it.
9. International transfers
Just Talk's backend runs in the United States (Fly.io). Groq processes audio in the United States. Stripe processes payments globally. By using the service from outside the U.S., you consent to your data being transferred to the U.S. for processing.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy materially, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and email active subscribers. Minor wording changes will appear silently.
